Nick on DepthDigital:
"We've always taken great pride in our studio. When
we first started Fullmono, I wanted to make sure that we'd
have all the writing, recording and production time as we
wanted rather than being hamstrung to how much pro-studio
time we could afford. It also meant that we could integrate
the entire creative process, meaning that songs could be
written and produced concurrently, aiding the whole collaborative
process.
We've taken a best of both worlds approach to our system, which is a hybrid mix of host-based / DSP-powered Audio Unit plug-ins and good old fashioned hardware based synths and effects. Apple, Mackie, MOTU and Native Instruments kit make's up a good majority of our brand-ldentification."

"I've always used Macs and Logic in the studio.
I've tried the alternatives (including stuff on Windows)
and the synergy of this combination just can't be beaten
in my opinion."
Synthesisers, Plug-ins and Effects
Hardware:
Akai MPD24 Pad Controller
Clavia Nord Lead 3 virtual analouge synthesiser
Elektron Machine Drum SPS1 drum synthesiser
Novation Remote SL37 remote keyboard
Roland V-Synth Variphrase synthesiser / sampler
Software:
Native Instruments Absynth synthesiser
Native Instruments Battery drum sampler
Native Instruments FM8 synthesiser
Native Instruments Kontakt sampler
Native Instruments Massive synthesiser
Native Instruments Reaktor modular synthesiser
Novation V-Station and Virtual Bass Station synthesisers
Spectrasonics Atmosphere synthesiser
Spectrasonics Stylus RMX groove module
"I'm a bit backwards when it comes to synths - lot's
of people say that hardware synthesisers are going out of
fashion, and software synths are the way to go. From my point
of view, this is one aspect of studio technology that actually
lets you feel like you are performing on an instrument, rather
than programming a computer. There's something about the
tactility of turning a hardware knob with your fingers, and
hearing the sound change instantly, rather than grabbing
your mouse and squinting whilst aiming at a tiny on-screen
control.
Of course, there are a things you can do in software that just simply isn't possible in hardware without major outlay - the multi-faceted nature of Reaktor for example. And I'm perfectly happy to free up rack space for the infinately-more-powerful-than-hardware Kontakt sampler."
DJ / Mobile
Apple MacBook Pro
Native Instruments Traktor DJ Studio 3.2
Native Instruments Traktor Scratch
Numark DM1002EX Mixer
Numark TT500 Turntables
"The great thing about computer based recording these days
is mobility. Having a notebook computer available to us is
really convienient; it means I'm not hamstrung to one location
when I just want to noodle around with ideas, do location
recording or whatever. I just bounce everything down to audio
tracks, load up the mix on onto
my laptop, catch a bus to Starbucks with a set of headphones
and carry on mixing!"
