16/08/2004; Hybrid Gig in Swansea...

Went to my first dance festival in three years over the weekend - Escape Into The Park at Singleton Park, Swansea. Was amazed to find that musically, nothing has really moved on in three years. It was very much a "kid-clubbers" event, which makes sense seeing as it's a stone's throw from the university.

The only reason that we were here was to check out Hybrid on thier home turf - and they kicked it against all odds, being a "grown up" live electonica act amidst all the hard house and cheesy euro-trance. It's a shame that such a great live act aren't appreciated in thier own home town - they were the first act on, and there was barely a crowd there to support them. I think me and Em were the only ones who actually knew who they were, people were asking " who is he (referring to Adam, the guest vocalist), is he famous?".

Despite such a bad audience (there must have been 20 or 30 people at the most, with only us and one Australian couple getting down to it) they still sounded amazing and gave a brilliant performance. Professional to the last!
