30/08/2004; Notting Hill Carnival

Finally up in Notting Hill for Carnival! Missed it three years in a row, and almost this time when some bozo smacked into the car, buckling the axle and leaving us without wheels.

With our plans slightly scuppered, we decided to alter our whinin' plans for today, staying at a Hilton in Kensington and spending a few hours at Underdog at Notting Hill Arts Club. Haven't been there scince the days of Lazy Dog, and it started off great but disintegrated into a mess of tribal jumping and whistleblowing when they wheeled out what looked like George Clinton's percussionist. Obviously a post-carnival crowd, and feeling a bit left out we did the boring, middle-aged thing and left for a quiet dinner at a Singaporean resteraunt.

Off to the festivities now, more later!
