07/02/2004; Time out for hobbies...

Been taking some time off recently to concentrate on less stressful concerns. A bit burnt out with trying to produce the ultimate debut ep, so I thought I'd try my hand at some alternatives to watching TV to unwind...

...don't get me wrong, I'm still addicted to TV. And to be quite honest, I'm a bit sick of sitting in front of a computer all the time. I do it all day at work. And when i'm at home, all I ever did if I got bored was flip open my Powerbook, launch a copy of IE and browse the same old websites I always look at. And lets face it, checking your email every thirty seconds MUST be a sign of addiction. Frankly, in retrospectI was getting a bit pissed off about wasting all that time, which I didn't necessarily want to spend pawing over a hot studio. Anyways, I've taken up the guitar. No, don't panic, i'm not going to start wearing spandex and hollering 80's rock kitsch. I just figured it'd be a nice, low tech "analogue" way of making music, which doesn't involve switching on a room full of equipment. I'm not Joe Satriani yet, but I've only been doing it two days, and I'm not pissed off with it yet! (must be a record for me). Got my styli' fixed the other day, thought I'd give the old decks a spin; how rusty am I? I think I'll stick to CREATING music for now. Really must give Freq Nasty's album a listen...

Tune(s) of the Day: I'm Still Awake (Hybrid) Knowledge of Self (BT) Basic Emotion (Koma & Bones) Pray For You (Plump DJ's featuring Gary Numan - this one's a little Blue Mondayish!) Tech of the Day: XIII (THQ, Playstation 2 game); OK, I'm loving this - looked like a straightforward first-person shooter, but I love that whole comic-book feel, got a real Marvel comics meets 007 vibe to it. http://www.xiii-thegame.com
