03/11/2005; Must be the sea air...

A mate of mine, an all-round renassaince guy and ex-Brighton resident forwarded me this quote for PlanB Magazine - sums up the Brighton music scene beautifully, and pretty much what happend with Fullmono 1.0:

"Cloyingly indie, suffocatingly white and offensively self-referential, Brighton's live music scene represents nothing so much as a graveyard of ambition where being in a band is little more than a ubiquitous passport to sceney acceptance, the ultimate label of self-delusion that validates the protagonists' switch from 'works in a call centre' to 'musician/artist' in their Friendster 'occupation' fields. Brighton is a town cocooned in its own cool - stagnant - unable to metamorphose into anything more beautiful, and rotting slowly from the inside out."

Never a truer word spoken...
