02/01/2007 22:35:49; From the '06 to the '07...
I don't nornally do New Year's resolutions, but there are a number of things I would love to see unfold in the '07 - no pressure, just would be nice...
- I actually get to spend less time worrying about work and more time making music
- I get a complete rewrite of Logic Pro that finally feels like it's not held together with sticky tape and blu-tack.
- Everything I need software wise finally goes Universal Binary.
- I finally finish all the songs I'm working on, Fullmono gets it's act together and gets a record out.
- I finally get all the websites I'm working finished.
- I finally learn more than how to play a major scale on the guitar.
- There'll be some gigs actually worth going to
- The gigs I do go to employ a sound engineer isn't trying to comit aural GBH just because he / she considers sheer SPL more important than a great live sound.
- The divide between hardware and software synths will become ever more blurred
- Strong Bad will finally get a new computer
- The religeous extreme finally realise that it's ok for others to have their own beliefs and decide it's better all 'round to live and let live.
Pleasant surprises of '07 already...
An album that you could actually use the words "quality", 'trance" and "album" to describe it in the same sentence? That's Ferry Corsten's "L.E.F." for you - actually brings a tear to my eye and makes me want to shake it like I used to 8 years ago. (OK, strictly speaking this is an '06 thing, but I only found out about it a few days ago).
Tunes of the month
Wild Wild Child - Sly-Fi (If this isn't the rudest track I've ever heard...)
Wavy Gravy (Bfunk Mix) - Sasha (This must be Burufunk on the mix... got thier signature sound plastered all over it)
Soulpath - C83
The Pressure (Aquasky Mix) - Breakfasters
Never Gonna Stop The Show (Autobots Mix) - General Midi (Fantastic reggae take on a great track from my fave album of '06)
Fast Life - Freestylers
Apollo (General Midi Mix)
Baba O Riley - Ils vs the Who (I think it must be those CSI: NY re-runs I've been watching that led me to this - who could resist with Ils on the mix?)
