20/01/2007 17:32:06; NAMM 2007 - Let the technolust begin...

I managed to survive Macworld intract this year (mostly due to the fact that Apple forgot to introduce any Mac related stuff), but as NAMM was just around the corner it seemed pretty unlikely my wallet would remain unscathed...

So - new on the perpetually expanding wishlist:

  1. NI Traktor Scratch - a lovely timecoded-vinyl as MP3 controller for DJ's. Let the purchase of many high-bitrate MP3's begin!
  2. Waldorf Stromberg VA / Wavetable Synth - It's big, it's white and it's got aluminum knobs. 'Nuff said.
  3. Edirol R09 Digital stereo recorder - finally a decent field recorder for less the £300! time to go sampling...

I have to admit, I'm pretty excited about the Traktor Scratch thing. It's actually going to fill a few gaps in my studio - the Audio8DJ will be a great portable audio I/O, and I'll finally have a means of spinning all those MP3's I've (legally) aquired over the years! Going to miss buying all the vinyl, but to be honest it's so much cheaper to buy stuff from Beatport etc... it's just so much more practical to buy digitially. And as I'm a Traktor 3 user, I get a discount, which is just lovely...

Tech of the month:

Boutique synthesisers named after James Bond villains - you gotta love those crazy Germans...
